Totally agree, with your comment, but the also keep in mind that these days a "common" Ford or Chevy can actually cost more than an Audi or Porsche, case and point, when i lived near Ann Arbor, Michigan 4-5 years ago the VW, Audi, Porsche dealer charged $92.50 an hour to work on my 911 and $97 an hour for my A6, My parents needed help with their Ford Explorer and the local Ford dealer wanted $125 an hour to work on it, so yes some German parts maybe expensive but in the end the costs are all relative.

Now to get to my new problem, I have a Crank, No Spark, No Start issue with my 1995 Audi A6 "C4" 2.8 liter V6 FWD sedan. I had this same issue last year (13 months ago) but replacing the Camshaft Position Sensor solved that for the past 13 months, then i was coming home from work last week and it stalled and wouldn't not start again, i had to tow it home into the garage. I have tried swapping the Camshaft Position Sensor again but it didn't solve the problem.

There are two additional symptoms this time, the plug going to the Camshaft Position Sensor is not getting 12v, when i use a multi-meter to test it i get 0.01 on the ground wire, 5.03v on the signal wire but only 10.7v on the constant wire (additionally when you crank the engine over this drops to 8.9v-9.4v), this is one of the two additional symptoms, the second is a click that is coming from what looks like a solenoid on the passengers side near the throttle body, it is a black, cylindrical object with a 2 pin connector plugged into it and everytime you turn the key and you hear the fuel pump prime, after the pump is primed and stops the normal buzzing sound you can hear a click from this black circular part. Also if you put your hand on it and have someone turn the key inside the car you can feel a click, and this noise was not there before. I am trying to find out what this is, i would have purchased the Bentley Publishing manual a long time ago but it has been and still is "out of stock, I have selected the "Keep me notified" option on the manual but it has been the better part of 10 years and i have never been notified. I have tried looking on ebay, and i have found several of the third book for auction/sale but that one doesn't cover ignition, that is book 1, and i have not been able to find that anywhere except on amazon for a staggering $2,144.97, and as much as i love the car, i am not willing to pay over $2 grand for a set of 3 manuals, so i have put my faith into the Audi world by coming to this community.

If anyone has any suggestions, ideas, fixes, even general comments i will gladly except the posts, if you would like to spend a minute you can listen to the noise i am talking about on this short video i made,

Thank you all and i look forward to your posts.

Milo

Hello

I had to unscrew one of the grounding screws so i could shift a bunch of wires over to read a plate i found on this circular part, it is a Bosch 0 280 140 538 Idle valve control (air supply) so unless this can cause a "No Spark" issue when cranking the engine, this is probably not my problem.

Default Free repair information

I noticed that if Audi parts at Autozone.com have a link for installation or diagrams, they seem to go to the Bentley pages. If AutoZone bought a subscription to the online Bentley, that would be really smart of them.

You might also check your local public library's online databases; the Santa Clara public library in my area has free access to some kind of online professional repair database. But I'm too lazy to type in the 6-digit library card number to log in, so I haven't used it in a while.

I can confirm that the yellow highlighted IS your crankcase breather. The line runs from the front left into the valve cover, in front of the Intake, and back along the side of the fuel rail to the other valve cover, and a port under the intake manifold and throttle body. There is also a vent valve which connects to the throttle body.
