Agreed on the Bosch Platinum at Pep Boys. 30% OFF. Purchased one 2 weeks ago, Also installed new Valeo alternator at same time..at 176,000 miles.
Wrestling the alternator out my 2.8 ATQ despite service position and a/c lines moved out of the way was a royal pain in the ***.
I just hope I never need to replace the starter! Who engineers these cars to be so service unfriendly ?

Thanks for the heads up John. Picked up a Bosch H8 AGM for my wife’s A6 C5. On the C6 and C7 Audi used a PR code that tells minimum battery size. Not sure about the C5. And the Bosch listing on the Pep Boys site lists the Audi PR codes for each battery. The C5 is drilled and tapped for H7, H8 and H9. Its in the trunk. I also noticed the smaller H7 was more expensive than the H8. I am guessing it’s due to volume. Iirc, when I replaced the battery on my 2.7t, H8 was the only choice. With the cold weather the last few days here, your post was perfectly timed. Tks
