Default 6mm not panic time, but I'd be getting ready for it soon. New brakes feel so nice.

The thinner they are, the hotter they'll get, and will wear quicker, right?

Default And how does one "get ready"? IMO, "new brakes" are inferior to maintained old, because the...

old rotors have worn true. Pad friction material is a poor thermal conductor, relative to metallic materials. The heat transfer path is primarily to the rotor.

Default IMO likely cause, poorly maintained calipers. If the guide pins are stiff or frozen...

the outer pad will wear much faster and not retract. What was the wear on the inner pad?

Never (with few exceptions) change rotors!

Default That is interesting.. I know when the dealer changed my rear brakes

he changed the rotors too.. and said that was the way it went... The card was in 4 year/50K warranty then and I actually pestered them into replacing the brakes.. I still have the Bill...
So you are saying rotors are never needed to replace?? then why does the dealer insist??
What about those measured tolerances?? (not sure what the numbers are)

Default I suspect you are correct - the inners were a bit (not a lot) better, and I had neglected

the brake fluid for too long... but boy did I get my $$ worth out of them pads!!

Default Getting ready for me would mean deciding if I want to stay with OEM or maybe upgrading,

which may involve some time searching the forums for what others have chosen, which can lead to the internet ordering process and shipping time. Sounds rather basic to me.
