Default C5 starting issues after gearbox removal

Hi guys wondering if anyone can assist me, I have a c5 a6 2.4 auto in my workshop customer complain of noise while running we inspected and determined the noise is coming from the gearbox my tech than started stripping and found that the flexplate/ flywheel was actually cracked than welded, now cracked again. customer than supplied us with a used flexplate which we fitted on and then assembled but to our surprise the vehicle wouldn't start, we check all electrical connection wiring, etc to no avail we had put on the diagnostics and only found a camshaft sensor fault. a buddy of ours told us that when you remove the gearbox the rubber form the intake pipe gets stuck in the throttle body which was check but not luck we then removed the gearbox again and found the phonic wheel/ crack shaft pick up was slightly different which we remove and fitted the old phonic wheel back on. we have exhausted all our options with this vehicle did anyone experience this before?

If you do a quick search on the forum about this issue I believe you will find some possible solutions.

Cam sensor fault means that you did not replace the flywheel at the corredt point with regards to TDC, thus the cams sensor is not correctly timed with the crank sensor.

You probably skipped this step in the factory service manual...

"Mark installation position of drive plate on crankshaft."

Considering that the drive plate can be installed in only one right position and seven wrong positions, I'm going to guess that you had a 90 percent chance of being wrong.
