Does it do it while turning and hitting the gas or in a straight line?

Default Well, that suggests exhaust sheild, exhaust itself, one of the accessory drives or idlers, etc.
Have you checked fan clearance?

Default Could it be something in the clutch? I sometime have a similar metal on metal friction noise when
I accelerate. It only does it when the acceleration is done under load (doesn't do it at idle with no speed engaged).

Default Probably not.. most clutch noises happen regarless of load...
most drivetrain noises happen with light load...

Well, if it makes the sound only under load, it's most likely exhaust or driveline.

Default I got that confirmed by my Audi tech yesterday too. Kris and April are the best :-) Tech said it's
probably the exhaust shield or some other metal exhaust part that vibrates at certain engine revolution rates.
