Lately I have had a couple incidents in which my car randomly shuts off when I come to a stop (stop sign, red light) while the car is still running. Usually I am at a stop for at least 15 seconds at that time. When this happens, the battery icon lights up on the dashboard but my lights stay on and the battery voltage is not low so I don't think it's an issue with the battery itself. I will try cranking the engine and while I hear the engine trying to rotate, it does not turn on. So I try it a few times and sometimes it will turn back on and other times I have had to try it after 5-10 min (after pushing the car out of the road with the help of kind strangers) and then it starts again.

It stinks having to approach a red light or stop sign now in suspense so any advice regarding this issue? Happy to follow up with more details if you need any and thanks.

Vehicle is an Audi 2002 A6, 3.0 quattro.

Get it scanned for fault codes, preferably VAG Com specific.

Based on the skimpy symptoms you give, I would have to give a wild *** guess as to the fuel pump beginning to fail.
