car will start but wont move!

I know this was posted a few years ago, but I'm experiencing the same issue with my audi. Mine was driving perfect and it all happened within 15 minutes it started kicking into gear hard as I was driving, I put it in park, got back in and it wouldn't move. The gearshift moves, the car turns on, just won't register its going into gear, did you find out what was wrong?

Mine is doing the same, although I put it up in the air and noticed a rear in a rubber part on the passenger side - is this the cv joint and would that cause that issue? No codes are coming up. Sorry for dragging up an old post.

A picture would help. It probably is a CV joint. You will need to lift the car to check the integrity of the CV joint. What happens when the car is lifted and placed in gear?

I'll have a look at it at the weekend. Will I have to jack up the four corners or just the front two ? The rubber casing was definitely cracked but I will take a photo of it once I lift it. Should both wheels spin at the same time when in gear? Thanks

Car starts but no movement.
I have a 2004 Audi quattro a6 2.7l. I just put a new engine in it. I also replaced both front cv axles and, I put a new filter in transmission. I pumped oil into it until it ran out. Then I started the car and ran it through the gears. Then I shut off the car and added more oil until it ran out. Then I started the car and ran it through the gears. I let it run for a bit to let it warm up. Then checked the oil and it was still full. When I put it in any gear it wont move. It registers on the monitor that it's moving to each gear. The rpm changes like it's going into gear but, no movement. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The tranny fluid must be at a specific temperature when you fill it. The other problem that sometimes crops up is the pressure control regulator in the valve body. You should probably get it scanned with VCDS scanner. Regular OBD II scanners won't read the transmission control module.
