Default Car wouldn't start this morning.....any ideas?

Car ran like a champ last night. Drove it real easy the last 3 miles to let it cool down (as I always try to do). This morning I wanted to pick up some coffee beans, so I go out to the car and turn the key. The starter sounds fine. I let it try for 10-12 seconds, three times in a row, but it wouldn't start. I waited a couple of minutes, pushed the gas pedal to the floor for 3-4 seconds, let off, then again for about a second. Turned the key and it acted like it wanted to start, so I gave it some gas and it finally came to life. It idled perfectly as soon as it started. Very strange. Anyone have an idea as to what might cause this?

Default My 2.8 had a spell for a couple days where it had a hard time starting...

my service advisor said to put some good gas in it (chevron or amoco) and some of the "chevron fuel adative and drive the hell out of it" (his words) so I did that and ever since it's been fine. by the way, you live in atlanta right?

Default there is no reason to push a gas pedal to the floor I don't think

your car is "drive by wire" right? BTW - when was the last time you changed the air and fuel filtr?

Default I always put Chevron in. I don't think it's had a tank of anything else.

And I always "drive the hell out of it" :-)

Yep, I'm in Atlanta (Duluth actually).

Default I tend to agree, but it seemed to work. Strange.

The car has 16500 miles on it and I don't believe either filter has been changed. I'm sure it's due for an air filter, but I need to look at my manual for the service intervals for both.

Oh, and I love the USS Ronald Reagan. Did you create it, or grab it from somewhere?
