changing turbos by dropping the transmission
#2
it would proably take more time,...
you should be able to drop the engine and trans as one unit in less time than just removing the trans... take subframe and all.. if you have a lift, it's gotta be easier.. I have no idea how FAR you'd have to go with it, but it should be doable.. Either that, or go out the front with it..

After doing it recently and looking at all possible ways
it was much easier to do it by dropping the motor and sub-frame from the bottom. The thing to keep in mind is that the bolts are real tight and a few are hard enough to get out when you have good access to them. I think it would take much longer to pull the tranny and fight with it than just dropping it. I found it easier to take the four bolts loose on the lower arms and tie them up so you dont have to take all the suspention components with it.

Save time? It would likely take more time.
It is best to drop the whole engine, transmission and subframe. I have seen it all on the ground in well under an hour.
Personally, I wouldn't even consider doing it any other way.
