Check Engine Light Problem
Still having a problem with my 99.5 2.8 with 15k miles on it. About once a week the subject warning light comes on. Usually when making a right turn or curve with heavy throttle.
Will reset by itself after a few days.
Dealer got advice from AOA and swapped plugs and wires, cleaned injectors, but didn't cure it. In fact, the light came on as I was entering the freeway 2 blocks from the dealer!
Any new suggestions or insights would be appreciated. None of the ancient postings on this problem seem to apply - loose fuel cap, low fuel level, poor quality fuel, etc.

Yes and that's what led them to the steps I described. They told me the dump indicated a miss on a couple of cylinders. And I think I can feel it missing once in a while, whether the light is on or not. But drivability is not affected.

My 99 1/2 has about 10k miles on it and is 1 year old. I seem to have read something on: http://tech.vw.com/audi/ regarding sparkplugs and some other things. You might check it out. Good Luck

As a previous owner of 98.5 A4 2.8Q, I (m)
experienced this same problem. The dealer made the following replacements to no avail:
- Spark Plugs & Injectors
- Oxygen & Air flow sensor
- Engine hoses checked
In the end, the culprit happen to be a small slit in the S hose on the EVAP System (rear of vehicle). This causes the system to loose pressure, which will activate the check engine light sporadically.
The following is the part number for this gadget:
Part # 8D0-201-945-C
