Chipping the Tip; can I get first to redline?

We just got a new Audi A6 2.7T with tiptronic and I'll probably be chipping it in the very near future. I see GIAC has a chip available to reduce the lag time when selecting gears, but does it (or can anything be done) about the incredibly short shifting pattern of first gear? Even in tip mode its out of first before 2200 RPM! I want redline capabilities!
Thanks!

Dean

No. But I think some are recoding to achieve this.

If you floor it, it will redline. You can also recode the controller to end in 22 instead of 02...

In addition to Transmisison and VAG-com sections of my FAQ (below), See this link:<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/142628.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/142628.phtml</a</li></ul>

It is a simple job to recode the Transmission Control Module.

Search under "recoding TCM". I think drhaller did all the investigation. Using a VAG-COM you recode to 00032. In Tip mode it lets you go to red line in first and in D mode the gears shift at higher revs (I don't think you can go to red line in D mode unless you floor the accelerator).

Anyway check the details, I may have overliooked something.

What service!! You must have all these items indexed as favourites!!! Thanks. I was too slow.

Just remembered...this may not apply to a 2002 model. Contact drhaller.

Thanks a lot!

WOW!
You guys don't waste anytime, thanks a lot! I really appreciate the info, especially since I just signed up to ask the question! I'll look around a bit more before asking anything else since this was so well documented.

Thanks again,

Dean

Oh Yeah - it sure does. Need a twincom to do it though!

On a 2002 with D and S, I'd recode to "22" not "32"...

The code ending in "32" changes the behavior of D on 2001 and 2000 cars (maybe earlier?) to a more sporty shift programme, but isn't necessary on a 2002.

Also, the first few digits may not be "000" as they were on my 2001 car, or they may be. These digits seem to contain country code, etc. Not sure. In any case: Just change the last two to "22" and you'll have no problems.

Chipping will not change it. You need to recode the trans..

with a VAG if you want to be able to run 1st gear to redline on part throttle. 000032 is the code. Chip chages the time between shifts, not the shift points.
