DTS worth it on Tip Avant?
I see there is a group buy going on for the Autospeed DTS.
Much has been said in the forums about it's benefits to the 6 speed, but are there benefits for the Tip tranny too? I drive my Avant in Tip mode 98% of the time, and it has a Tip chip. Occasionally in auto mode or whatever I do get some light clunks from the drive train. I have had the tranny flush about 8K ago, so it's not that. Anyway, is there sufficient benefit to drop the $225? It is an Avant and not a 300hp sport sedan, but still, I drive it aggressively. Thoughts, opinions, suggestions for lunch? |
i'd have to say no... DTS for manuals ..yes.. but for us tip boys.. not worth it
|
Doubt it.

Slight Hijak: DTS vs. Snub Mount
(I know this has been discussed before - so no "search" comments please...)
With the DTS buy going on, has anyone had recent or good experience in comparing the Snub Mount either with, or instead of, the DTS (on a manual car)? The DTS is much more expensive, but easy DIY fitment... I want to understand if a Snub Mount is best (or not) and if so, does adding a DTS add very much to the effect? Thanks |
what year? concerning the clunk. if a 2000 might be the trans software
|
Useless for automatics.
shifting in tip is not the same as going through gears in a manual trans
|
Waste of money IMHO and anyone trying to sell one is dubious at best.
|
Thx... Many other uses for the money at this point
Hate to spend more on the audi if not necessary.
Secretly I hope to be the only A6 Avant on the track at quattrofest in a few weeks, so I've got some last minute mods to deal with. |
hehe.. i'm sure one or two S6s will pop up..=))
|
It's a 99
And it seems to have issues similar to others on the forum, clunks when switching from R to D or Park to R, and on downshift from 2nd to 1st in auto mode.
Tip mode seems fine. |
