You could try a fluid/filter change..not a flush
Flushing an Audi transmission is not recommended. Make sure the correct fluid is used and it's done by someone who knows what they are doing. Slipping?? Depending on how bad the problem is could just be the TC. Not a common problem for a 3.0L. Not enough power to stress the trans. $#!+ happens.....

4Driver4 I do tech support for a huge company and I also find it ammusing when someone just sends me an email or opens a ticket saying "I cant receive emails" LOL
"Could you please be more specific perhaps? is your device even turned on"
Same thing applies to car's diagnosis the more details the better no?
Going back to OP if it's slipping I would do an oil/filter first, cover the basic stuff and then try to pull codes OBDII at minimum if you have VAG-COM even better.
And a better description of the problem; where did you get the $3500 estimate to fix the trans? What are they doing to it?
Man I feel for you; life comes at you fast sometimes.
