ENGINE SWAPS?
 

Has anyone put an A8 engine in an A6? How about changed to a turbocharged engine for an older (95-97) A6?

Isnt an A6 4.2 basically the same engine as the A8? How do they get the additional horsepower in the A8? I was in Greed Speed shop and was told the A6 4.2 frame at motor mounts has been spread approx. 2" OA.

Anything is possible with the $$$...

I think that without some hacking the 4.2 V8 will not fit in an A6. Of course it would drop right in to an A6 4.2 but the 4.2 has a bigger engine bay than the other A6 models.

It will fit the C4 100/A6... larger engine bay...

What is a C4 100/A6...

Previous generation A6 lineup.... called the 100 series between 92-94 A6 in 95-97...

How about a 2.8/tip to 2.7t/ 6sp swap in an A6?

How about swapping in the 2.8 or upcoming 3.0 block into a turbo engine?
 

As in, end up with a 2.8T or a 3.0T.

But I imagine the compression ratios might be an issue.

All engine swaps are very difficult and costly. Never worth the time and effort on new cars
 

I used to put 440ci Magnum Police Interceptor engines into early 70's Dodge Darts. Even back then it was hard, with ZERO computers in the car.
