Is this fair price, front pads and rotors for $560 and rear pads and rotors for $460?

Default that sounds like a dealer price, my indy installed slotted rotors, axxis deluxe pads,

s.s. brake lines and pentosin fluid for that price

Default Never understood why you fat wallets love to replace rotors! They tend to wear true....

used being better than new, and the passive wear sensors become fully effective at the first pad replacement. I always cut off the active sensor leads, they being as useless as C5 headlight washers.

Default No.

Have you ever actually checked a used rotor with a micrometer? They almost never "wear true." There are almost always grooves and high spots. At a bare minimum you need to put them on a lathe and true them up. As a matter of fact, I don't think I've EVER seen a used rotor spin completely true on a good brake lathe.

The average DIYer doesn't have a rotor/drum lathe in their garage so unless you want to pay someone $15-30 per rotor to cut them (perhaps finding that it's hopelessly out of spec anyway), it is easier to buy brand new ones.

Default If you can change a tire, you can do your own brake job

check out ECS tuning (or any other decent) parts outfit and purchase your rotors and pads for all 4 corners for the price of what the stealership is going to charge you for the rears.
Brakes on a 2.7T is simple, just as simple on any other A6 to be honest.

Would take a first timer about 2 hrs to do all 4 wheels. A veteran can bang out all 4 in about an hour. (and I do my own at home with a floor jack and a pair of jackstands)
