false laser alert with V1
I noticed laser warning goes off
when I am behind a envoy or trailblazer. here is
the answer of why from the V1 website.
Red neon is occasionally used for the CHMSL (Center
High Mounted Stop Lamp) on new cars. We know of these
models: GM Trailblazer and Envoy, the Lincoln Mk VIII
and the latest BMW 3-series convertible.
These lights use a neon-plasma light source. The red
lens allows red visible light to pass, and also
invisible energy near infrared. The source is powered
by a pulsating voltage on a frequency that happens to
be similar to the repetition rate of legitimate
laser-gun pulse trains. In other words, the CHMSLs
have an invisible energy leakage that?s nearly
identical to the beam used by traffic laser. If we
suppress the interference, we?re likely to damage
laser sensitivity.

I got so many false laser alerts on my V1 that I disabled the feature ...
It was happening at night, in daylight, in the rain, in the dry and, most significantly, even when the road was absolutely empty in front of me. The Valentine web site has programming instructions for disabling any of its features, so I just shut the laser detector down, even though the Garden State Parkway Patrol is now using laser. After all, how good is an alert that is pretty much limited to telling you that you've just been nailed?

Probably not. V1 detects radiation in a broad band. But laser gun...
... probably looks for the timing of pulses returning from your car, which should be well above the background and at such a high pulse repetition frequency as to give a good lock despite strong background radiation.

Another reason why probably not...
The laser gun is being pointed at your car, the same direction the falsing radiation is flowing. To even have a chance of screwing with the laser gun, the falsing radiation would have to be aimed 180 degrees around, i.e., at the gun, not away from the gun.
