FYI- Headlight Washer Caps Coming Off or Loose?
A couple of weeks ago, I posted about the sore sight it was when I realized my headlight washer cap had come off on my then 4 week old '00 2.7t. I thought it came off because I used them while I was "cruising" at 110 mph.
Well the caps came in, and had them painted etc. etc. When the tech went to install them, they noticed that the jet washer head unit (i.e. the unit which houses the nozzles) was missing 1 out of the 2 nozzles. Hence when the washers came up, and began spraying, the missing nozzle (which was still connected to the washer reservoir) shot straight up hitting the bottom of the washer cap, and soaking the technicians.
I was able to see the "fastening" system for the nozzles, and it's not the smartest design out there. The caps came of about 4x during the reinstallation process. So the combination of a loose design, with the missing nozzle made it very easy for the caps to come off.
So my point is this: check to make sure your headlight washer units have 2 nozzles each. If not, the repairs are covered under warranty.
