Good Bye old friend.
Well I have been talking about it for a while ... she finally left last Friday . treated me well and served my son well as a lerner mule and took some damage along the way. I think she looks quite graceful heading out with dignity and even the tow truck driver thought she was in fine shape for a wreckers car. I wanted to drive he up dukes of hazard style but he wouldn't let me.
In case any of you are just curious about state she was in when I finally gave up on her here is the list ...
ABS light on 9 module already repaired once )
check engine light on and off for two months ( o2 sensors and sai injection )
air conditioning failed
creaking from suspension
power steering pump failed . unless you are on the gas it was like tractor mode.
no lcd display
tires completely worn out
alignment way off
transmission failures forcing into limp mode every trip
torn CV boot.
I think it was time ...

Wow, that is sad. I have seven of these C5 Audi A6 Quattro cars, and my favorite is a silver one that sounds like a clone of yours:
- check engine light on and off for two months ( o2 sensors and sai injection ) - yes
- air conditioning failed - yes
- creaking from suspension - yes
- power steering pump failed - I don't know. Something is screwy with the power steering
- no lcd display - failing, not dead yet
- tires completely worn out - yep
- alignment way off - yes, until two days ago. I had the Reno Audi dealer do an alignment; $190. The steering wheel is now straight again, and the car feels more sure-footed somehow, now.
As to the transmission failures forcing into limp mode every trip -- oooh. That's a big one. I've seen owners with near-perfect cars abandon ship just for that reason alone.
Whereabouts are you located? Have you replaced this with another A6?
