Have any of you had experience with aftermarket power steering coolers? <long>

At the moment, I will be able to fit an intercooler with a depth of 3.5" in front of the stock PS cooler. There's plenty of space near the mid-section of the bumper, but I have no desire for the bottom of the interooler to stick out beyond the bumper (ricer style yo :P ) Anyways, 3.5" is an acceptable depth, but that only works with the stock bumper. If I decide to go with an RS6 bumper, the stock cooler in front of the rad will be a problem (since the RS6 bumper is shorter than the stock bumper.) An aftermarket cooler could be mounted higher up, which would give me plenty of room for the intercooler. I'd appreciate your input, since the only posts I found concern oil coolers. TIA.

Lots of trucks with towing packages have p/s coolers. Time to crack out the measuring tape

and some towing/Whitney catalogs.

I know a few places that sell them for under $100. I was just wondering if

anyone on here had personal experience with them.

Our truck has one........

along with a trans cooler and oil cooler. I'll wager that wasn't the answer you're looking for;-)

All I know is that I want one that works. Power steering cavitation is scary stuff!

A6's have one directly in front of the radiator. I'm assuming an aftermarket unit would

work just as well, but that's why I asked. It's a matter of available space. If I could simply move the stock unit, I would. But that would probably be a PITA.

Yes, it's that squiggly pipe. Maybe relocated and hook it up with some quality hose

from Aeroquip (they make hoses for the trucking industry - so heavy duty)?

The urS guys remove the stock coolers all the time to do FMIC's. Just buy...

...a small cooler from your local FLAPS for about $30.

Confusing Q, as usual. You ask about PS coolers and then talk of charge intercoolers?...

Why do you think that you need additional PS fluid cooling? You can move the stock tube cooler anywhere you want in front of the rad. Sounds like a make work job!

audikillsbmw 09-03-2008 01:41 PM

I don't need additional cooling. I just need a unit that can fit easly in another location.

If you understood what I was trying to say in the original post, then you would know that there will be NO room left between the front of the radiator and the bumper. A smaller "square" cooler would be much easier to fit in compared to the stock unit, especially since I could mount it up near the top of the radiator.

Your local AW will have a large assortment of PS and AT fluid to air coolers.
