Heater Hose Coupler
 

One of my Heater Hoses has a leak in it. So when i move some parts out of the way to get at this hose i find that it has some sort of connector attaching it to the heating system.

I notice the clip so i open it to remove the hose from the system.
After some pulling and shaking i find that the connector hasnt moved.

I assume that there is some sort of corrosion going on there that keeping it from coming off smoothly, but im not 100% on it.

Is there a method that someone has found that makes getting this a somewhat easier process? Or am i just doing something wrong?

Nope. Remove clip then remove hose.

Get a new heater hose and you'll see how it works. Chances are the old coupling was put on dry or without a smear of silicone or Vaseline on the O-ring and it is stuck. Be careful not to work on it too hard lest you break the male nipple.

doesnt seem to want to come off.

is there a tool i can use to pry it off? there's not much room down there

Not really...did you get the new heater hose? You can try with a channellock pliers or what dad used to call a water pump pliers (??? where did THAT come from?) but you risk crushing the plastic nipple the new hose coupline goes onto.

LOOK at the new hose and see where you can grab onto the coupling and twist/pull if it doesn't have an alignment notch or channel. Perhaps you can grab onto the coupling with the channellock and then TAP the channellock with a hammer to drive the coupling off.

AFAIK there is not a special tool.

what i do on the little ones is grab it, and just wiggle wiggle and pull like mad. Last resort, prybar and put pressure against it and wiggle like hell and pry, this almost always gets the stuck ones. If all else fails, order a new hose and carfully cut it and then pry it and break it apart and remove.

That would work...use a dremel and cut a slot in the plastic female coupling and crack it with a screwdriver.
