HELP 2002 audi a6 key wont turb
 

I recently looked at a 2002 audi a6 2.7t quattro and it has been sitting and the battery was dead so we jumped it using another vehicle and the key would only go two clicks and not into the position that it would for you to start the car. I should mention the key fobs don't work either. What should be done to fix this, I cant find anything online

It's not that the starter won't turn, the key itself won't turn, it will go two clicks and the Dash and everything comes on but it doesn't go into the "spring" position to turn the car over

Well it has a hole in the trans, (ran over a train track) and its been sitting since April and started a few times in between but the battery was dead and we jumped it. Then the key fob wouldn't work and it had the key immobilizer flashing

You will need a VAG Com device to reset the car. The fob's have probably lost connection due to the dead battery and the immobilizer is preventing the functioning related to the ignition switch. Replace the batteries in the key fob's, make sure the steering lock portion of the ignition switch isn't bound up. Try turning the key while trying to turn the steering wheel at the same time. You will most likely need to pair the fob's to the car if the battery has been dead for a long time. Risky to run the car if there is a hole in the transmission. When running the torque converter will make pressure in the transmission and you could run it low or out of transmission fluid and do a lot of expensive damage. Get the battery charged, then get the car scanned to find out the basic faults. Google is your friend. Many search results on Google will bring you right back to this forum.

No. Based on your questions up to this point I am thinking you have little knowledge about these cars. Considering that I think you would be in over your head from the start. These cars are somewhat difficult to work on at times, expensive to repair regarding parts, and if you run into something you can't figure out it will cost a lot of bucks at a professional shop. There are very few times you can take short cuts doing maintenance and repairs. None of this is intended as a personal attack just trying to be honest. If you have the hots to get an Audi, my advice is to keep shopping. There are a lot out there for reasonable prices mostly because of the points I just covered. If you find one really cheap or one that is exhibiting problems then pass it up unless you have the knowledge about the problem(s) and know what it will take to fix it. Otherwise you will be buying a money pit. The car you looked at would probably sell for around $4000 if it had no problems and was in tip-top shape.

Not putting down your dad but I have seen more than one experienced mechanic throw up their hands and walk away because of the sometimes convoluted nature of these cars. They are great cars but have their own little quirks and difficulties that are not common on others. This is mostly due to German over-engineering of basic mechanical stuff. That's why you see million mile Mercedes out there sometimes.
