Default Help my A6 wont start

Hello, my 2003 A6 3.0 auto. wont start, about a month ago it died as I was coming to a stop at a intersection, pushed it off of the main road and checked fuses ok, I sat there cranking it over and over and it would almost start a little and then die,so I sprayed a little starting fluid in intake and it started right up and then die, so I figured its the fuel pump, towed it to a local garage and they figured the same and changed the pump. When I got the car back it was hard to start, it was cranking fine but was taking 2 to 3 turns of the key to start, then it would run fine,so it was like this for like 3 weeks every time I went to start it, fast forward 3 weeks,go out to go to work already running late, all it does is crank, wont turn over, so I really wear the battery down which I think is already going since the winter, call the garage and tell them the new pumps dead, they finally come tow it,they think its just the battery and put new one in starts up runs fine, still hard to start 2 to 3 turns key cranking it over before it will start, but running fine, put new air filter, fuel filter, and ran some injector cleaner through and running great but still hard to start. Go out to go to work on Fri. dead again, cranking and cranking no start.I dont think its getting any spark, could it be cam position sensors or a crank position sensor, or coolant temp sensor. Any ideas appreciated sorry about long story.thanks

No, none of the garages by me have scanner for my car and the dealer is like 35 or more miles away and I hate going to them anyways. I was wondering if this v-checker on the ecs website worked because I was going to order it, http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-C5_A6-...ls/Scan_Tools/ ,are there any other hand held scanners or cheaper laptop options that I could go for.

At $30, it's probably worth a shot.

Might be worth seeing if anyone is in your area and willing to scan the car with a VagCom.

I had the battery off a couple times in the last few days so that could be some of the codes right? and I know there is some vac leaks, so that could be some of them ,and I had the whole pass side string of plugs for the coil packs off too, maybe that is cylinder 1,2,3 codes, what about the engine speed sensor?
