Hmm.. Where can I find a cheap engine stand that will work with my V8?

I know you can rent them, but I would prefer to buy one. I've seen a certain "VW" engine stand listed in AllData instructions before, but something tells me it's expensive :P TIA

Did you try harborfreight.com They seem to have every kind of tool

audikillsbmw 05-04-2008 08:45 AM

eh.. I've heard some grumblings about them..

Some true, some not true.

I actually think some of their stuff is fantastic value. Others are useless.

I would guess simple, large rough metal parts like engine stands would be right up their alley. I like their vices for example. And, oddly, their pro-line torque wrenches and ratchets ( pittsburg pro)

Regular ratchets, no. Electrical stuff, not so much.

I have one, it supported the weight of a 360 Chrysler, too bad your not near by

Umm...what are you planning to do?

Dude if you want to seriously mod a C5, find a 2.7tt 6 speed. I am assuming you are going to try to pull your engine yourself in your parent's garage? Listen summer is coming up, you don't want to get over your head with the car apart not being able to drive it for months.

If you want to get more performance out of your 4.2, get the Giac engine and tip chip and Brembo brakes.

That seems kinda brutal...

LOL..is that what a 32 yr old cat looks like in human yrs?

I don't think I'm that old. Maybe I'm a little cranky since I have to suspended all my Audi mods to close on a home at the end of this month.

Yea, 32 is DIRT OLD! Congrats on the new home.
