Default Hmmmm....."Xenon high intensity discharge headlights with automatic self-leveling" owners....

I have a 2001 A6 with the premium package including the "Xenon high intensity discharge headlights with automatic self-leveling"

I'm currently driving a loaner A4 B6 which also has the Xenon headlights, but upon starting the car the headlights rise at least 6 inches before they lock in. There is nothing in the trunk.

I've never noticed the lights on my A6 move much at all (is the auto leveling working?), so my question is to those of you with a 2001 with Xenon headlights....if your lights auto level up, how much do your headlights go up?

Default My 2002 tends to adjust upward a little bit...

not sure how many inches, since that would vary depending on how far away a suface is, but enough to be noticeable.

Default Mine adjust quite a bit, almost like the car is opening it's eyes from a nap..

..can't say how much it is in inches, but definitely noticeable.

Mine are pretty steady. I've seen 'em move so I know they're working, but quite steady.

2002+ xenons move through the range at start-up. Earler models don't.

Default Not always. Not sure what triggers it, but mine don't always go through the motions.

Never really paid much attention to a pattern in the cycling, but they def do not always do it.

Yep, the xenons on my 4.2 move up a few inches after coming on and then stay steady.
