How do you remove the coil wires from
the coil pack on an 02 a6 2.7t?
The tech article had different clips.
These coil packs are the bolt on ones and the clips are held on by a metal band. I'm sure there is an easy release but not sure where?
Thanks

Post a picture of the connector and we can probably tell you quickly.
If the connector has metal clip about the thickness of a paper clip, you just press on the metal wire and remove the connector.
My 4.2 has the #%@#% plastic connectors that usually break off when yøu*squeeze them because the plastic has hardened with time and underhood temps. I have spare connectors that I replace them with at that point...usually you can just remove the terminals and change connectors but on the 2K4.2 the new connectors have to be spliced/soldered/tape wrapped into the OEM harness.
Worst case is you break the coil connector male part and have to replace the coil...usually just the female connector on the wiring harness breaks and that can be easily replaced (you still have to order the repair part either from the dealer or ECS or somesuch).

coil pic?
If this is your coil it shows the wire band/connector opened. Hope this helps.

I think you gently pry the clip up, which allows the tab to slip out and the wire pulls straight off. I'm partly working from memory here - my s6 has two screws that hold down each coil, plus a push on wire in which a tab slips under a (plastic if i recall) spring clip that is attached to the coilpak itself.
