Have been looking for a S4 Avant, and ran across such a beast. Best looking A6 I'd ever seen (silver) stock. Did'nt have time to drive it then, when I went back today it was gone. The rep tells me "oh yeah, those are really hard to find". Performance vs. the Avant????

ok, starting off, an S4 avant is not an A6. In the North American market, there were no A6 avants with the 2.7T motor (closest thing you'll get to it is the alroad with the adjustable suspension).

are you trying to compare an A6 2.7T sedan to the S4 avant? your post is confusing.

yes, S4 Avants are pretty rare (relatively).

Sorry for the confusion. Yes, I was comparing a 2.7T A6 SEDAN with a 2.7T S4 Avant (wagon). I understand that there is/was no 2.7T A6 Avant ever offered over here...only the V8 S6 (out of my price range right now).

Just want to know if 6 speed 2.7T sedans are hard to find. I've yet to search Auto Trader. If performance is close I might just go with a sedan.

6 speeds are also probably driven harder and modified more.
