I may have messed up. I put new Akebono ceramic pads on the front of my 02 A6 2.7t

I cleaned the slides and was going lubricate them when I saw a little packet in the Akebono box that said Lubricant on it.

I assumed that that was for the slides and used it. Was that correct or was that a big mistake? I find that the brakes are slower now.

you're fine, that's what the packet is for (guide pins and contact points on the caliper)

give 'em a couple of days to break in and they'll feel fine. They're great pads, that's all I use now.

Thanks, I was worried that the lube was anti-squeal. I have them in back and they are great.

Very low dust. They took a little while to break in, but after that they were great

They take several days to bed into your existing rotors - you'll love the lack of dust...

Those are great pads - long life, low dust and easy on the rotor. Just not meant for highly

spirited driving like some other pads - but those pads make a lot more dust and will eat up the rotors. Give all new brake pads a week or so of city driving to properly bed in, esp if you used existing (not new out of the box) rotors.
