Intermittent Turn Signal Issue

All of a sudden my turn signals are going on the blink (haha so funny). I flip the handle and they will blink maybe four or five times, then stop. Same with both left and right. Not sure what else to say, this is pretty much what's going on.... anyone have a quick diagnosis on this one? Thanks in advance!

Also check the number of pins to make sure you get the right part.
I got the part from

thanks everyone for your help...
I got the hazard relay out of my dash. Part number on it is 4B0 941 509 C (other markings include WBS+Zusf. >PA6 GF30<). This switch has only 9 pins.
So my confusion now lies in the fact that when I search for 4B0 941 509 C on ecstuning.com, the results indicate this part "has been superseded" to part 4B0 941 509 K B98 (http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/ES370432/ES370432/). Ok, fine, no problem.... BUT I noticed pictures show this part has 10 pins. The compatibility chart also lists my 2001 A6 as compatible. So...is the part compatible or what?
How about this much cheaper part: http://www.ebay.com/itm/98-99-00-01-...item3f13072f0f (number of pins inconclusive). Thx for that link A6R1.
I'm gonna at least try switching the hazard and blinker relays as previously suggested, but assuming this attempt fails, will someone please tell me which damn part to buy??? Thanks guys.

Please see my earlier response. We have the same model and year A6. You have the right part and part number. I had the same questions when I picked up my part from the parts dept. The new part had 10 pins and my old part had 9 pins.
I was told that the extra pin on the new part plugs into a "receptor" that is inactive because Audi designed a "universal" part to fit multiple cars.
That's why in this situation, for the price, timing and similar concerns, I opted to find a brick and mortar store with a human to answer my questions on the spot vs. a virtual "store" with shipping, emails, etc.
Also, search this and other Audi forums about using the "knock off" part. I did. And in this case, I went with Genuine Audi OEM.
You're on the right track.

I also have the same model year but mine is the 2.8 The hazard relay that I took out of my car has the exact serial #s on it-> (4B0 941 509C WBS+Zusf. >PA6 GF30<) The OEM part from ebay has worked perfectly for a few months now. The seller's shipping was very fast.
