Just got back home from a LONG road trip.. VT to GA in 1 day, then back after a day..
My friend 'Bahn Burner and I decided to take the A6 this year, and it was a great decision! The car handled all of our stuff, as well as the incredible mileage without skipping a beat.
We covered over 2500 miles in less than 40 hours, filled it up 7 times. We left my house in Vermont at around 4pm on Thursday, and arrived in Braselton at around 9:30 am on Friday. Then after the race (well, half of a race) we left Braselton at around 6:30pm, and arrived at my house at around 12:30. We had one scare, with about 3 hours left of our trip, something in the left front suspension made an incredible bang. I pulled off to inspect the car, and saw nothing out of the ordinary. The control arms were all fine, everything seemed great, but there was a distinct clanging when the tire fell into a hole, but not if it went over a bump. Finally, after unloading everyting at home and seeing 'Bahn Burner off, I pulled the car into the garage, and lo and behold, the coil spring broke, about 1/4 coil from the bottom. Amazing. So, I guess it's time for some new springs for the old girl. =) |

Heck of a trip....what springs are you replacing it with?
|
Yeah, it is just too much time in the car for me. Next year, I'm flying.
I'm just going to replace the one broken spring with an OEM spring. |
