Default Keyless entry: MCU vs. Glass Type 8E Transponder

My 2006 Audi A6 came with remote key that has integrated remote & transponder, i.e., the 8E transponder is MCU type, not glass type.

My question is glass type 8E can be used for my car if programmed properly?

My situation is that I’ve lost the first key and the second key seems to have broken MCU transponder (remote still works fine). As a cheap solution, I’m considering to buy glass 8E, get it re-programmed, then attach to my broken second key.

Thanks in advance for help!
