Default MMI problems

Hi new member here so hope I’m in the right forum. I have a A6 Avant 2l diesel purchased from new in 2008. Best car I ever owed. Had a service recently but not at a dealership. Apparently had a bit of a job getting the service light off in the diagnostics. Picked up the car and noticed the radio wouldn’t work then checked and all the MMI functions were off. MMI boots up then screen goes blank. Everything was working fine until I picked the car up, coincidence?? I think the diagnostic guy has buggered something in a module but can’t prove it. They want to send main module for repair at my cost. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
