My first electrical gremlin has surfaced

I didn't know what happened earlier this weekend, but I was driving along and the airbag light was illuminated. I dismissed it as my wife had delayed putting on her seatbelt and it promptly went out as soon as she engaged the buckle. Either way though, I've never heard of the Airbag light being illuminated due to that. So there's #1.

Then today, I get my car back from having the key fob re-programmed to open all doors and get rid of the nasty beep upon locking. I'm driving along and notice that the car did not upshift with my thumb control. Next, I shift again and if finally shifts. Now that I'm alerted to something amiss, I notice that the ESP light is illuminated (meaning it is disabled) on the tach and I reach to cycle it via the button on the dash. Nothing happens. Now I'm worried and continue to monitor things. Tachometer momentarily drops out and comes back to normal revs several times and the HVAC lights (temperature and fan display) go bright, then dim, then bright again several times. During none of these symptoms does the car drive any different (except for the first no-shift via the buttons). I decide to turn the ignition off and start things back up again. All of the symptoms disappeared during the remainder of the trip home.

So, anyone have this happen before? TIA for any stories. I'll report this to the shop ASAP as the car is still under warranty.

Have your airbag light checked by the dealer

I bet it's an igniter problem on one of the airbags.

Igniter huh? I'll be interested to see the

connection between the airbag, tachometer, and the HVAC system. Thanks, I'll report when I re-visit them.

I had the ESP light come on on my S6.

Turned out the problem was with the steering angle sensor. That sensor is on the steering column.
