noisy air conditioner fan
 

Is the compressor fan for the air-con unit suppossed to go on and off as much as it does....and mine is really loud, is that right?

Was just wondering the same...Isuppose this is normal. Recently the UK has been enjoying tepms of 85-90 degrees and the switching on of the fan happens almost immediately after start up. All temps (coolant and oil) remain normal so I am guessing this fan is simply an extra aid more often on than off in hot weather.

That sounds like what mine is doing....it is loud

I can tell an Audi in the summer from a block away. They are all like that.

Any time outside temp reads over about 90, the aux fan goes on. Lower, if engine is hot and/or AC on

The electric fan activates on demand as necessary.

The concept of AC in cars is fairly new to Europeans....
 

...and many of them haven't quite mastered the intricacies of cold air and silence - it ios only in the last few years that Euro AC really blows cold....

BMW, MB, Jag, RR, VAG all had really lousy air. My 1975 Chevy Nova blew colder air quieter than my 86 Jag....

and it gets louder ... untill it dies....$270 for parts and $500 for labor at the stealership.
