Is it normal the brakes to be noisier when running slotted rotors?

I just finished up my HP2 upgrade with EBC slotted rotors and they are noisier than my previous set up - single piston w/plain rotors.
Is anyboyd with slotted rotors experiencing the same effect?

Sometimes I get a sight "hum" under heavy braking.

That is what I am experiencing.

i di the exact same upgrade... I now get a sound when braking...

Almost a rapid rummble strip like sound. I attribute it to the slots hitting the pad.

Next brake job I'll try perf and see what ahppens.

Difference is pads, not rotors.

I am runing Hawk HPS.

ToolmanAR 02-29-2008 05:44 AM

What kind of noise. Sometimes drilled rotors make a "whizzing" sound under light braking.

Dimi (A6 2.7T) 02-29-2008 05:46 AM

It sounds like a rumbling hum. I think it is the slots scrubing the pads but just wanted to see what

the genreal experience is.

KIWINI-RI 02-29-2008 06:09 AM

Yes. And the EBC were noisier than my current ECS slots.

VONBOTTLE 02-29-2008 06:35 AM

i get the same hum as well with heavy braking with my slotted rotors
