Default OK, I checked the archives. My car did not come with the radio code. I'd like to

get that before the battery dies. Penske tells me they have to pull out the radio and get the info off the back, Walter's says it's gotta be hooked up to the "master computer" in Germany. Any other simple way around this? I looked on the tag inside the spare tire well and didn't see anything on there either.

Default Your options...

...if the code card is not in the Symphony booklet or written on the sticker in the trunk:

1) take it to the dealer and have them pull the Safe code for you;
2) contact the prior owner to see if he/she still has the card;
3) find otu where the car was serviced in the past, and see if that dealer kept the code on file somewhere (if tey had to do any electrical work, they would have needed the code;
4) Roll the dice and hope you do not need the code.

Good luck!!!

Default Not suggesting that anyone do this, but I usually...

...attach a jump box before I change the battery. I never lose any settings.

Default Takes 'em two minutes.

Service advisor logs onto computer, writes the code down on a piece of paper and hands the paper to me. Didn't cost me anything but it was one of the first things I asked for when I picked up the car.

Default Thanks. The prior owner has not returned my calls yet. From his location, I'm going to give a shot

to Walter's as his servicing dealer and hope they cooperate. He lieft behind his AAA proof of insurance cards, and his prior registration, but no manuals or books of any kind. I already have a Symphony book from my 2.8. Is yours written on the trunk sticker?

Default Mine was not on the sticker, but I had the original booklet...

which I tore out and gave to ScottD who inherited my SymphonyII headunit. I have a card for my RNS-E with the safe code on it. It was on a sticker on the headunit itself...kind of defeated the purpose, eh?

Good luck!
