Default Noise

2004 A6 S-Line 2.7
83K miles

When I go over a speed bump (slowly) or go over a dip in a road, it makes a sound like my car is bottoming out (it's not obviously). Any idea what that could be?

Shocks, control arms, tie rod ends, swaybar mounts, loose bolts, interior bits loose, fat mother in law in back seat...

Mine does that, it's almost like a crunching sound, right? I know I have bad lower control arms.

Default Thanks~

Thanks for the help, guys. I did a very thorough visual inspection of the back seat and the trunk. I found nothing heavy in there that would cause the issue. I even did a double-check just to make sure I wasn't missing anything (human or otherwise). I was truly hoping it was going to be that simple.

I took it to my local shop and had them do a similar visual inspection. They found nothing either. However, they suggested doing an inspection on the front end where the noise was coming from. Ta da - they found it!

I ended up needing upper control arms, shaft outer boots, and sway bar c-links....whatever the heck all this is.

So the arms are fine, you just needed bushings?

How many bushing did you have replaced?
