why is smoke coming from my exhaust when I accelerate? Oil light comes on as well and I have just had oil changed a week ago. I checked oil and it indicated 1 quart low.

oh gosh, loose filter, loose drain plug, hole in the pan. Give us a little more to go on. Is smoke coming out of the pipe? What engine? What year?

you guys are being too nice, based upon the super basic description, if say the op take the car outside and shoot it. lol
but seriously, he's descrbed that he's got smoke coming out the exhaust, so it sounds like you may have a head gasket issue, but heck who knows. take the car to an Indy mechanic and get it checked... at least that way the mechanic won't have to rely upon your description of the problem.
