Pahtbox harness cable

Pahtbox harness cable
So I ordered the Phatbox. Checking my CD-changer spot I found out that I need the harness cable, too (2003 A6q model) but unwilling to pay 104$ for a simple cable with a 13 pin connector (connector: 4.99$). I bet that the whole cable can be built from 25$. I already searched the net for the 26pin D-SUB/13 Pin DIN wiring diagram, so I already know which pin corresponds to the 26 D-SUB output. I am still searching for the followings:
1) which color of the wires corresponds to the 13 pin DIN connector. (The wire color that goes to the radio is indicated in the official installation instruction: i.e. Pin 10=brown etc)
2) what kind of pin I need to use to connect the free end of the wire to the radio
I will just make a D-SUB connector on one end and solder some pins (9) on the other (skipping the 13pin DIN). Should work, right?
3) what is the approximate length of the cable?
Thanks

don't forget...
- you'll need 9 female pins/wires for the 20 pin connector (those run $3 each)
- I would place some shielding around the audio wires (three of them) as you don't want the alternator hum/buzz issue
I've seen those 13pin DIN connectors and the 26 pin Pbox connector....soldering WILL be a bitch...unless you are an electrical engineer.
You might be better off doing this:
1) Buying the VW version of the CD changer cable (from HU to trunk); the VW version is like $50
2) Trading your audi interface cable with someone who has a VW cable etc...
Search the audio forum for 4driver4 as he did this in his UrS6
You might save some $$....and more importantly....TIME!
just my 02.
