Please help
Hello. New owner of a 03 a6 2.7t 6 speed. Got car with 134,000miles and engine light on. First repair: changes plugs and coil pack associated with misfire, valve cover gaskets and replaced MAF. Car performs better-cel stays on, still smells like a valve cover leak though. New mech checked for leak in my air system-ran a smoke test and found 2 leaks which we repaired(one was on the cutoff valve which seemed to have been just jammed on). Cel stayed on. The following codes are from 3 weeks after that repair. I have a P300 and P303 code indicating cylinder misfire in 1 &3. Also have P1423 bank1,1411 bank2 and 1136 bank 1.. I find that cel only blinks when I am in neutral and not in motion, does that mean I am not misfiring in gear?Have also read on these forums that a valve cover gasket leak can drop onto plugs and flood plugs. Possible? Finally based on these codes and info how detrimental are these symptoms to the car as it is my daily driver and I would like to keep it that way. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks

The smell should go away after the oil burns off the exhaust manifold(s).

After you did the repairs, did you clear the codes? P0300 indicates a random misfire or a misfire on multiple cylinders, not a cyl 1 misfire.
When you did the valve cover gaskets, did you do the cam tensioner seals and cam plugs and seals?
Not sure if the secondary air system can cause a misfire, but that should be fixed. It could be the hose going from the pump to the two valves, the pump itself may have seized, the fuse may have blown, or (less likely) the combi valves have frozen somehow....
