Default Rear center seat belt won't release tension. And the seat back is down...

I was cleaning out my wife's car today and I noticed that the rear seat back (60 side) was not locked in. So I removed my son's car seat from the center and proceeded to re-slam the seat back into the locked position.

I decided to clean out the parcel shelf too, so let the (60) side down all the way to the seat bottom. However, when I tried to bring it back up, there was so much tension on the seat strap that I can't get the (60) seat back up more than a few inches. And I'm afraid to tear the leather if I try to force it up anymore.

Read thru the manual. Even tried the latch into buckle method, but w/no success.

Does anyone have/had this problem w/their C5 or have any suggestions, other than a trip to the dealer? BTW, it's out of CPO warranty and now my son's seat has been re-located to the (40) side, much to my wife's dismay.

Default Once fully extended, the belt has a ratchet in the reel whihc will only release....

when it is reeled back in to it's normal resting, unfastened position, ie, straight up the seat back from the bottom. You will have to work the belt out around the edge of the backrest to get it free. Then let it recoil and it will then pul out again.

Thanks, but not enough slack left for that. I'll have to send to the dealer to dis-mantle.

Default On second thought...

Unless, you think I can un-bolt the belt end from below the seat bottom and free the belt that way? Then it would have enough slack to wind back in, and release the ratchet in the reel. Does that sound logical?

It should work depending on if you can get the seat out of the way to get to the bolt.
