Redneck Truck

I'm interested in rebuilding my fan motor if possible. The fan and bracket are perfect and the unit appears good but doesn't power on. On TDIclub, people have had success disassembling and cleaning the fans, but I haven't read anything about it here. Anyone have any suggestions? I'd like to get it taken care of while the intake manifold is out because it makes it a lot easier to get to.
