Replacing Security Locking Control Module

Replacing Security Locking Control Module
2003 A6 Quattro 4.2 Horrors. Lots of failures Pulled up carpet and pulled out "Comfort Control Module"
Soaking wet. Moldy. A burned through connector on the PCB socket. Peeled up burned PCB foil in one place.
Don't understand how it was functioning and suddenly all these failures. This looks like old damage.
What kind of morons would place this component under drivers side carpet in a waterproof container that leaks?
Found one on eBay with key.
I assume I can just slap this in and use the supplied key to reprogram my keys.
Any other problems to look out for? (Other than curing source of leak)
Thanks
