Default Secondary Air System P0491 & P0492

I bought a 2001 Audi A6 4.2 V8 this Saturday. 24-hours later, the check engine light came on! The codes are P0491 & P0492. Secondary Air System Fault. The car has 53,000 miles and is out of warranty.
Would anyone with a Factory/Bentley Service manual please help me diagnoze the solution?
Sincere thanks in advance.

Bobby.

Default My Bently says check fuses for air pump and check hoses

Here's a description (at URL below) of how to check the hoses, for some reason they shrink up.

You don't need to check the fuses, just hook up your vag-com and do an output test....it will whirl like crazy if it has power.

BTW, it's the same for the 40 valve A8 motor.

https://forums.audiworld.com/a8/msgs/19663.phtml</a

No. I am in Chicago. The temperature yesterday and today were in the 70's.
What is the Emissions warranty on Audi's? Is it the same as bumper-to-bumper? 4years-50k miles?
Thx,

Incorrect flow bank 1 and bank 2? Remove the top engine cover and look at the vac line on the left side on the engine. It goes to a solenoid twords the rear. They will sometimes shrink and pull off. If that happened you just need to run a new length of hose. Good luck.

I could not even find the secondary air pump, nor the fuse nor the relay. I did find the vaccum lines and they seem just fine!

Please advise...

Default Talked to Audi dealer about Emissions warranty...

and it does NOT cover secondary air injection!
It only covers catalytic converter, exhaust & ECU.
Just an FYI
