Sob story - just looking for sympathy
So I was tooling along on the 580 through Livermore and WHACK - a rock star in my windshield. Now (2 weeks later) it's a 16" crack. Only 5500 miles. Dang! $500+ for the replacement. Oh well, as long as it doesn't leak.
Chapter 2 happened last Saturday at midnight. Arrived at LAX after a 5 hour flight from Maui and found one of my Dunlop SP9090s flat. Ruined the crappy BBS tool trying to get the cap off. AAA pumped it up and we got home OK. Was soft again today (the tire, that is), so took it to a tire store. It's UNREPAIRABLE. There's a nail in it that's too close to the sidewall. $160 from Tirerack. Plus shipping and installation. Dang! There goes my exhaust budget! I guess I won't be real anal about this car now. And after all, it's only a car. WAAAAH! :-( |
Hopefully the Maui trip had mellowing effects that will last you in this time of trial. :-)

That sucks. Make sure the wheel is ok. The weight of the car can bend it out of round with no tire
pressure.

Doesn't your insurance cover the windshield with no deductable?
I've had that coverage for the past 30+ years under the section called comprehensive. Had to use it 4 times with different cars. I thought most policies had that coverage (for towing, glass, etc.)?

Sorry to hear that. Now you can relax.
|
My comprehensive deductible is $1k. Keeps my monthly cost down.
|
Yikes. Never thought of that! Thanks for the tip.
