Test drove 2004 Audi A8L & 2004 MB E500 4matic over the weekend.
I really liked MB (ride, handling, power and etc...). Felt very solid and confident driving it.
Dislikes:
Interior - nice but too busy
PRICE - $63,000 (without any options except heated seats and sound system upgrade)
2005 model year and up - No covered scheduled maintenance (only major service is scheduled).
A8L - Fantastic car for only $75,000. I loved everything about the car (styling, interior, MMI, QUATTRO and etc...)

actually -I spent 4 days on the autobahn in an S320TDi and the reality is
those cars really do not feel very good till you hit 100mph, after that they are rock solid, and the controls/feel that seems so crappy around town are perfect
