Thinking about purchasing a 2000 or 2001 audi a6 2.7 biturbo 6speed

I have a couple of questions that I'm sure you guys on here can answer considering this looks like a pretty good forum for audis. First of all, I'm planning on spending 10-12k and will therefore be getting one with around 90k miles. Do the turbos on these go out quickly? What should I look for before buying? (Im guessing they have a 60k and 120k maintanence?) Are there any common problems to these cars? any comments would be greatly appriciated, Thanks

i got this one guys

The car has 90k miles, expect it to hit the 100k miles mark as much as a toyota camry or a supercar, anything with close to 100k will need maintenance from wear and tear.

the turbos are reliable at stock rates for the most part. wait for the engine to warm up before driving "spirited", as you would with any vehicle prior to owning this one.

make sure the timing belt has been replaced at least once since it's past the 60k mark (recommended from audi brochures) obviously it doesnt break at exactly 60,0001 miles....

get it inspected first before cutting the check

If you can swing it get a 2002 or later which has the facelift and upgrades to the

susepnsion, glass, etc...

JimmyC83 08-24-2007 07:36 PM

cause the car's been around since 1998. archives tell all

carbon dating and counting the trunk's rings, total 4, pun intended; will not yield anything.

sorry arottyz, my copy and paste buttons are broken from the last time this question was asked. you'll find many good answers by looking in the back dated posts im sure. if my explanation wasn't good enough yrk2.7t covers the nitty gritty. obviously this library of info doesnt run on the deuy decimal system, but its navigable enough

acronym STFA = search the forum's/freakin/.../ archive
