I want a SKYLINE BAD BAD BAD........BAD BAD BAD........BAAAADDDD!!!
Actually, last year, when I wanted to transfer to Japan (just before I heard I that my wife was pregnant). I was going to max out my A4 and then go to Japan and get two other cars...(corporate apartment....free parking spaces)..one was a Skyline GT-R and then kit Nismo or HKS (or top Secret, or 1000's of other places).
Then next car was going ot e a Skyline Aerodeck (stationwagon) and then hop it up to the max (drop in the GT-R engine and go for 1200 bhp......okay I would have been happy with a very simple (i.e. chip and small stuff) 450 bhp. I wish they would hurry up with the Skyline for the US. I heard that I will have to wait until 2003 for the next GT-R that will be US bound.... plan to put a deposit down the moment I hear of anything......but don't worry, I will still have an Audi somewhere in the house.... Thanks for the great pics!
How did that M Coupe peform? And to each his/her own about those Ronals. :-)

The M was very bad - driver young and a little wild - but good - Skyline can be had from
Sun Motorsports in L.A. somewhere. Bring a suitcase filled with 80/100K in cash.

I known that Motorex is importing them and is converting to US legal. but....
but one of the attraction of the Skyline in Japan is that for about $45K, you can have a Porshe/Ferrari beater on your hands (which other car do you know that has been designed to handle 650 hp without any chassis modifications). At $90+ from Motorex, (now way over $100 by the time Trust gets through it) ... its now cheaper to buy the porsche or Ferrari. As a result, the GT-R has moved away from the original attraction. It has now become another expensive car to lust after and I'm not convinced that it is better stock than Porsche or Ferrari. Therefore, I would buy the Porsche or Ferrari.
It is also easy to extract power from that motor but what that means is that it can go rom the stock 320 hp (okay okay 276 hp...damn Japanese insurance) to 400 hp for another say $10K. Now we are back in the Ferrari/Porsche power territory. If we wanted more power. Say spend another $25K... what do you think is more attractive. A modified Porsche (Say Gembella), a modified Ferrari (Say Iding) or a further modified GT-R. Same conclusion. I would take an Iding modified Ferrari any day. It's a value thing to me.. (audi owners must understand that or else we'd all own BMW's..or at least most of us). I want to beat cars twice the price of mine. I love it when I'm in a mini doing circles around mustangs on a tight track...and I only have 50 hp. Having said that..I read that the next GT-R will be watered down a bit (not nicer...just not as tough mechanically) .. result of the merger with Renault. That is too bad. The R34 really is the spiritual successor to the R-32 (R-33 was nicer looking but too fat). Oh well, beggers can't be choosers. Mike |
Love you Alfa!!!! BTW, if you see the Skyline perform next time, could you please
let me know how it compares? After I wrote that note, I felt so guilty that I had just dissed (is that how it is spelle??) my favourite car growing up...... :(
Hope the GT-R gods are not pissed off at me. I still wished they were $45K and brought in as Nissans and not Infinite's. Thanks for the Pix's April/verdegrrl. I was in Europe last year and I wish that they brought over the 156 sedan. It is a really good looking car in the flesh. Mike |
I meant "Love YOUR Alfa"...gotta start using that preview button.......not use to the convert yet.
