Transmission experts, Please help! 2001 A6 4.2 transmission lash and vibration issue
I had my transmission replaced by a Chevy dealer at 50k for lost reverse gear under their insistence that they do the work (3month-3000mile warranty). So, I had my car up on a lift for 50k plug service and the tech said I have rear transmission output shaft, front, and rear differential seal leaks ( oh and Chevy tech balanced the mass on tranny pan so it is dented now and never mentioned it to me). The transmission now vibrates with a noticable klunk up and down .5 or more inches when turning and then stopping the front tires on a lift. Also, there is a gear lash sound coming from the auto transmission gear box as the transmission is vibrating up and down.
Did they break a transmission mount? Should the transmission vibrate like a large mass on the end of a flexible lever when tires are rotated then stopped by hand? What did the chevy service center do to my car? How am I supposed to get them to fix these issues from their improper tranny replacement?

Re: my first question is why did you let a chevy dealer replace your transmission?
Didn't have a choice the 3 month contract states that they had to fix it. They eventually had to take it to a transmission shop to install because they were unable to fix it took about 1 month. They also pounded on lower control arm mounts leaving massive hammer dents to gain room for tranmission removal.

I'd take them to task on the matter...
the control arm issue can also be considered a safety issue, they most likely weakened the control arms by doing that.... a weak control arm can break while driving....hmm...that seems like it'd be a pretty nasty accident, possibly involving others..if they had to move the control arms...why not just remove then reinstall them? as far as the other issues, they all need to be resolved at their expense, as many things can be considered safety issues. if they are not cooperative, you may want to consult legal aid...
and if they can't do it, they have to send it somewhere that can, otherwise the warranty is useless...
