Hi Thanks for the reply,

Sorry I prob have not made myself clear :-(

I have a 1998 2.5 V6 tdi C5 avant, I was enquiring why my model has the clocks shown and not the ones that have the MPG etc showing in a large display.

I thought all A6 models came with this feature and also all models had cruise control as mine does not.

I have all full electric pack central locking etc etc

can you advise please,

sorry for the confusion,

Si

Not every model had that option , whoever order that car back in 1998 didn't choose it,

Default wiring for bench testing

Great write-up thanks for the info. I plan to use the pinout charts to hook up a wiring harness with plugs to a power source and use it for bench testing with VCDS software. I have it working with only the blue plug but the "Instruments >> Output Tests" part of the VCDS is not working. Do you know which wires to hook up to which plugs are needed to get the Output tests to work?

I should add that my wiring setup works for VW clusters but for Audi it only lights up the LCD display, it doesn't make the display light up various ways as it does with VW.

there are different pinouts for VW and Audi, unfortunately I don't have that info, I setup my box about 5 years ago, can't recall what needs to done.

Default Bad Cluster?

I wanted to fix the center display so I picked up a new cluster off of ebay from my 2000 a6. The new cluster is identical and the center display works, but the oil display does not move and the brake and abs lights are on. Everything returns to normal when I put back in the old cluster. Is the replacement cluster defective?

Did you code your replacement cluster properly?

I have no idea what you mean. Do you mean that a dealer has to hook up the replacement cluster to get it to work properly. I never heard that before.
