This is weird...revs drop 200 rpm during constant throttle in 2nd gear, then climb again...
After Kam1996's comments yesterday about the lack of low-down power in his 2.8, I made some careful observations with mine last night. Accelerating gently from around 1500 rpm in 2nd gear, it climbs steadily to 2000rpm and then DROPS to about 1800rpm and then climbs again! (Decent power doesn't come in to about 2400 rpm.) This happens only in second gear and strangely only seemed to happen about half of the time. It does not happen under full throttle. Only tried it in tip mode, must try it in auto next time.
I've noticed this dip in power ever since I had the car. It's most noticeable when you are driving sedately and accelerating out of a corner. The first few times I noticed it I thought the dam thing had changed into 3rd (even though I always use the tip), it is such a noticeable lag in progress.
Anyone else observe this?
I'm thinking this may be some quirk of the variable valve timing. Anyone know at what revs the timing changes at? Does the change point vary with selected gear and maybe throttle position?

Prob. just lock-up torque converter doing its thing; normal.
Mine does this too, exactly when expected for a lock-up torque converter. It's taking the loss out of the drivetrain - you're going the same speed with less fuel.
